what darkness feels like..

It feels like falling. It feels like rain. Like losing my balance Again and again. It once was so easy; Breathe in, breathe out. But at the foot of this mountain, I only see clouds. I feel out of focus, Or at least indisposed As this strange weather pattern Inside me takes hold. Each brave step forward, I take three steps behind. It's mind over matter - Matter over mind. Slowly, then all at once. A single loose thread And it all comes undone. Where there is light, A shadow appears. The cause and effect When life interferes. The same rule applies To goodness and grief; For in our great sorrow We learn what joy means. Sorrow, Sleeping at Last  ________

night songs..

"Aphrodite," I pleaded to the moon drenched sky. "Tell me, if love is meant to heal, why does it destroy those who choose it?" From somewhere beyond the clouds, I heard the Goddess laugh. And I knew. N. Gill.

Of Gods and Monsters...

I was honored to be asked to show some of my art work with a collaborative of artists from the Transylvania Art Series at the Vampyre Cultural Center in Second Life . While I have not done many public shows lately, I still do like to create. I have chosen to blog to release some of my creative energy but every so often I will take on the challenge for a bit more.. and this was really just  waiting to come out. There is a lot of allegory and allusion to many themes here, but mainly the concept of the heavenly and the earthly, of the violence perpetrated in the name of "God" and the concept of dark fantasy and horror blending into something that pulls you in despite you wanting to look away.  I want to thank the creators who make the lovely and amazing things we wear and use for our photos and art. This piece would not have been possible without the creations from the following:  Tattoo: Endless Pain,  Alariel @ The Alchemy mask: P sycho Byts, De...

Blessed are the children of the Horned One..

" He will call you out Make you sweat Give you a blessing that you'll never forget So revel in the chase and let your heartbeat run Blessed are the Children of the Horned One Hunter who tracks outside of time Guardian Lord of ancient Rhyme Brother stag in the musky glen Consort of the Goddess in her Woodland den We call you forth as we make our way walking in your power every day...." SJ Tucker, Hymn to Herne ____________________   I will not be blogging for a couple of weeks due to real life taking more of my time with family health issues, but I expect to be back to a regular schedule towards the end of March. I am currently in search of a job as well, and have been drawn to this song as I have been "on the hunt" so to speak , for a new job. I'm sending out a prayer to Herne, to guide me in this hunt...  I hope you are all well and take a moment to hug those you love. Remember, we are only here for a short time, so...

The Fall...

I was very excited when Ados invited me to show at their gallery in Transylvania . I loved the gallery, the theme and the sim overall, and it fit my usual themes of dark fantasy in general. This time however I  was pondering what I would present, and I was told I had a large show space, with the ability to show my work any way I wanted, which was daunting as well as thrilling! So, I decided to explore the concept of our humanity and how we fell, so to speak, when Even chose to take that apple from the Tree of Knowledge in the Christian, Western Theological tradition. I am an eternal optimist, and my take on it was that Eve was not a sinner. She was courageous. She may have disobeyed but she did so because she wanted knowledge, and everyone knows that once we have acquired knowledge, there is no going back to being blissfully ignorant. Knowledge is power. Knowledge is strength. And the fact that it was a woman who dared to defy the Creator is even more  significant to ...
