when words fail..

There are times when words simply cannot express the need, the loss, the sadness..the utter feeling of the heart as it beats with longing. Words have the power to define, to capture and hold, to captivate, to define. But, when we can't use words, there is only the pure emotion left, when our tears are only drops in the ocean. We can only hope that those whom we wish to convey this can see, feel, hear and perhaps understand what we are attempting, in the clumsy way that feelings often express themselves, and know that we are still there.. always there.. Thank you Peter for making this pose and collaborating with me and indulging in my whimsies. He has more patience than he knows ;)

Fantasie Noir

For anyone who has known my work from my prior flickr stream and now this current one, you will probably have noticed that I adore fantasy works, and draw inspiration from many sources. Lately, I've been drawn to darker themes. Those of loss, of longing, of looking for meaning, they all still play a big part of my work, but I am also fascinated with the idea of beauty and what people consider beautiful, and how often we are attracted to those things we are told maybe we shouldn't. But who is to say our darker fantasies are anything bad? I am certainly not perfect in how I express my thoughts, yet I think its worth exploring.. I hope you enjoy this image and if you want to see more, please do visit  Gallery Assis  as there is some more of my current work not seen on Flickr. To that note, I would like to thank PeterJackson for his infinite patience and making two poses used for my show, as well as F*cking Ninjas, whose creator has been amazingly generous and has created so...

{Silver Threads} Ends and Beginnings

Alas, this is the final two poses from my collaboration with Peter. As the third of the fates, Atropos is in charge of cutting the threads of life, thus cutting the connections  they have with others. However, these threads fall back into the web, and they are redone, recreated and re-connected, often over many lifetimes. So, if you have ever wondered why one suddenly connects with another person, that instant attraction.. or when you hold your child and she looks into your eyes and you swear you've known her since before she was born.. or, when you take your loved one's hand and you know.. they have been there before.. this is why; these Silver Threads of Fate that weave us into being. Thank you Peter for making my ideas a reality :) find this pose here @ Peter's Poses on MP . Find this pose, a variant of the one above, here @ Peter's Poses on MP :)  for those who want to know: shape: my own personal one, made by me skin: League, Isla in pale hands a...

Silver Threads: Life's Measurements

Continuing on with my riff about the threads that connect us all, this represents the measurement of those threads.. how each one connects but also ends, and how the concept of Fate comes into play. Is our end predetermined? Or, is it something that happens randomly? For each of us there is a story to be written and told, and intermingled in that story are many threads which will come to us and be there for a moment or a lifetime or somewhere in between. Those connections never end. They come back to us over many lifetimes, in various forms, for us to understand and learn that Love is the only connection that matters… Thank you to PeterJackson for making this pose a reality :) find it here at Peter's Poses on MP Namaste :)

Silver Threads: The Casting

This is my first post since I decided to take a little break, and I wanted to start off with talking about connections. In SL as in our everyday lives, we make connections, often they are brief, sometimes not so, and there are many variations in between. I've always wondered what is it that attracts people to each other, and what is it that keeps us connected. Why do we feel like we know someone when we've just met them? Why do we meet the people we do? Perhaps the answer lies in the ancient concept of the Fates:   Clotho, the spinner, who spins the thread of life. Lachesis, the measurer, who choses the lot in life one will have and measures off how long it is to be. Atropos, she who cannot be turned, who at death with her shears cuts the thread of life.  These threads are connected to each of us, and we in turn are connected to each other. Some threads are stronger than others, and some connections are never broken. This idea of the the delicate silver threads that weave ...
