The rain fell in a slow but steady rhythm. The sound was soothing to her ever working brain. She closed her eyes and inhaled from the cigarette, feeling the hot, acrid taste of the smoke course into her lungs.
She would never have to worry about dying from smoking at least, she thought ironically.
A stake, or a sword.. or maybe a silver bullet.. but never smoking.
She stubbed the cigarette on the bottom of her high heeled pink shoes. Her soft leather pants stretched over the curve of her well rounded bottom as she gracefully bent ever so slightly. Flicking her cigarette butt to the trashcan by the bar with deadly accuracy, her lips curved into a slight grin as she contemplated the feel of leather on skin.
She felt her fangs at the ready, and she bit her lower lip as she looked out to the abandoned streets of the slums where she had sought refuge.
A hunger stirred deep within her. She needed to feed, and her stash of synthetic blood had started to run low.
Catching a glimpse of her newly bleached blonde hair and pink lipstick, her eyes accentuated with dark kohl liner, long black lashes shading her piercing light green eyes, she chuckled.
Not a bad look really, she thought. It would certainly pass for the dumb blonde waitress persona she had created.
Silly humans and their ideas of vampires and not being able to see their reflections. An old vampire parlor trick, gone to become urban legend.
The sun finally set over the horizon, and she slowly opened the door of the diner.
The sun may not burn her to a crisp but it certainly weakened her.
But the night.. that was another matter altogether. She could see and sense the night creatures stir, a demon here, a fairy there.. even an imp or two. Alas, no other vampires were near.
It was just as good. She needed to gather some more intelligence before trying to continue her hunt.
Tonight.. it was all about satisfying her hunger.
